Everything hockey

We are in hockey overload in our household these days. Owen seems to be absorbing everything he sees in relation to hockey and it is easy to do since Sports Centre or Sports Net or Sports World or whatever always seems to be on our TV. Owen knows every possible thing about a typical hockey game even though he's probably only been to five his whole life. He knows that we sing O Canada before the game starts, he knows that there are two goalies in the nets, he knows that the goalies have to take a break when the whistle blows and that they drink from their water bottles which are on top of their net, he knows the 'amboney' (zamboney) cleans the ice when the whistle blows, he knows the amboney goes into the garage after its done cleaning the ice, he knows we eat popcorn and 'poneys' (Smarties) and orange pop at the hockey game.
He is also catching onto the fact that hockey players occassionally fight. He recently started attacking Scott and Bailey in the middle of playing with his mini sticks and he thought it was absolutely hilarious. We laughed too because it was so out of the blue, but we now realize this could be a problem if he does this at school!

Apparently he's this crazy about hockey at school, too. His favourite teacher told us a story about it the other day and we laughed and laughed. One day, while playing hockey outside with the other kids in the playground, he suddenly gave up his hockey stick and jumped onto a small bike. The teachers thought this was odd because he usually would never give up his hockey stick. Apparently he explained that he was cleaning the ice on his amboney so they could keep playing hockey. What a goof!

Here he is last night watching the Leafs game from the front row of his and his brothers' new dual stroller.
