Back to normal

Today was the first day back to normal life for us. Owen went back to daycare after three weeks off, and i went back to work after two wonderful weeks off. Owen surprised us again and went in to daycare without any problem. There were new kids and even some parents in the room when we dropped him off, but that didn't seem to bother him. A new caregiver started today and he's a man! We can't wait to see how Owen adapts to that change because he's so used to the ladies caring for him all day. I'm sure it will be good for him to have another male to bond with besides his daddy.
Owen is all talk these days. He knows so many words now. He knows poppa (Grandpa), nanny (Grandma and Andy, our neighbour), up and down, Bailey, truck, car, doggie, bunny, tractor, pees (please), doo doo (thank you), een (Ian), wa wa (water), run, all gone, milk, juice, cheese, raisins, Elmo, and so much more. Basically, he's talking in full sentences but in his own language so only Scott and i can fully understand.
My most favourite thing about Owen right now is that he will almost always come over to me or his daddy if we ask for a kiss or hug. He gives the sweetest kisses and really digs into us when hugging us.
Here are a few shots of Owen's favourite past-time - throwing rocks in the water. He would do this all day and every day if we let him.

The countdown is on

Only one and a half more days until i'm off for two entire weeks! Scott is off this week and Owen and his daddy are having lots of fun. They've been swimming numerous times at the neighbours pool, visited Grannie Gi Gi, done groceries and cooked wonderful dinners each night, played endlessly outside in Owen's inflatable pool, and more. Needless to say, Owen is tired and has a bad diaper rash from being wet almost all day.
We spent the long weekend at the cottage and we enjoyed perfect weather on the last day. We delayed leaving until the last possible moment so we could enjoy it. I've posted some pics from the weekend below.
Owen is turning into a wild child. It happened a few days ago and i find myself standing there in awe at times because it is such a change from the sweet little cutie that we knew. Not that he's not sweet and a cutie anymore. He's just that plus being wild at all times. He scares me to be honest. Last night it took me over an hour to put him to sleep. Here's a summary of what he did in a matter of 60 minutes: screamed (for fun) at the top of his lungs just because it's fun, jumped up and down probably 500 times, turned his music on and then off and then on and...., tried to climb out of the crib and almost was successful!, held onto the rails with his hands behind him and dove into the mattress on purpose (this was followed by hysterical laughter), yelled daddy in a soft voice, a loud voice and a piercingly loud scream, yelled mommy and momma in a soft voice, a loud voice and a piercingly loud scream (in that order), cried to be let out of the crib, and then the whole cycle started again after i put him back in the crib after carrying him around for awhile.
He's also starting to test us and we're struggling with how to deal with it. In the past he has respected that he isn't to touch something when we tell him no, but now he's thinking it's a game and repeating the actions until he's bored with it. Do we just redirect his attention to something else? Or do we firmly tell him no and let him cry when he reacts to that response? Whatever we choose to do we need to decide soon because he's already taking advantage of us not knowing how to deal with it.
Next week both Scott and i are on vacation so we're planning to go to the cottage and also go camping for a couple of days (sans Owen!) Exciting stuff.
