Hallowe'en at the Barker residence

Owen surprised me again. I thought he'd put up such a fuss with his bee costume but he was as good as could bee. (sorry, that was bad!) We paraded him around the house for a bit and visited with Grandma and Grandpa because they insisted on coming over to witness Owen as a bee, and then he was off to bed at regular time. Owen slept a ridiculous amount of time today - two naps at almost two hours each! He must be growing or something...

Uh oh...

Yesterday Owen did something that impressed me and also made me think twice! Here's the picture:

The t.v. is directly where he's pointing the remote. I'm honestly not watching t.v. a lot during the day, but it is usually on when we play in the family room. It just made me realize that he's soaking up everything we do around him and learning quickly.

Fun in the leaves

It was a beautiful day today so we couldn't pass up the opportunity for fun in the leaves in our backyard. At first Owen was hesitant about the crunchy leaves under him but by the end of our playtime he was eating them.

A playdate!

Yesterday Owen had his friend Emma drop by for a playdate and a much needed catch up session for his and Emma's mommas. Emma loved all the 'new' toys and managed to share some with Owen at times...! Owen just sat there most of the time staring at the new person in his house with a huge grin on his face. The next time we see Emma Owen will probably be at least a year old! Here they are looking cute as can be!

An overnight stay

I took Owen to meet up with Scott in Guelph this weekend as he was there for work. We stayed one night at a hotel and Owen did incredibly well. He slept in his play-yard and hardly noticed we weren't at home. On Sunday we visited with friends who are expecting their first baby and who just moved into a beautiful home. After a short visit i drove Owen and i home and made it back in time to join in on Sunday night dinner with the Vissers. Here are some pictures of our weekend.

A poop in a box

While i did laundry this morning Owen played in a cardboard box and had the time of his life. At one point he needed to poop and i caught it on camera!
Here's another photo of Owen reading his favourite book, "The Barnyard Dance" while i clean up in the kitchen yesterday.

A cold morning!

Our walk this morning was very cold so Owen had to wear his new snowsuit jacket and hat and mitts. The jacket is huge even though the sizing says it should fit him perfectly right now. He looked like little Maggie Simpson with his arms out to the side. After we started walking he settled down, but it got rough for a few minutes as he screamed for the whole neighbourhood to hear!

An afternoon at the pumpkin patch

We took Owen to the local pumpkin patch yesterday since it was such a nice day. Scott insisted on taking him through the corn maze and so i followed them with the camera. Owen had a perma-grin the whole time as you can see by the pictures.

Thanksgiving at the cottage

The Barker and Mars families met at the cottage for the first of many Thanksgiving dinners to come. The weather was absolutely beautiful on Friday and rained off and on during Saturday. The colours were in their prime and we even did some fishing on the incredibly calm lake. Owen had a great time with all his grandmas, grandpas, aunt and uncle. He ate his first meal of spaghetti and had the mashed potatoes and peas part of thanksgiving dinner. Bailey enjoyed most of it as Owen kept missing his mouth and the food would fall to the floor. Enjoy some photos we took:

An early start to the day

Here's Owen this morning when he decided it was time to get up for the day at 5 a.m.! We let him whine it out for awhile but finally had to get him at 5:30 a.m. He joined us in bed for a bit, then got bored so daddy gave him his breakfast while i slept for a half an hour or so. He's down for his afternoon nap and it's only 12:30 p.m.!
Last night we took Owen to his first swimming 'lesson' at the new Legends Centre pool in Oshawa. There were only two babies (including him), so it'll be much different than his last lessons where there were about 15 babies! Scott said the pool was cool and that i would have a hard time getting in next week when i take Owen. The other baby in his class was two days older than Owen and you should have seen the size of him! He weighed 25 pounds and looked like a two year old! Poor Owen looked like a skinny little guy compared to Elliott, but we're really not concerned about his size because his daddy was just the same and he turned out ok...!

Our weekend

The things we did this weekend:
1. Went to daddy's girls hockey team's official first game as OUA members. Owen fell asleep on Nan after he got used to the very loud stadium.
2. Went to a farm to look at all the pumpkins and flowers.
3. Finished painting the living room and dining room while Owen watched and played.
4. Went to Grandma and Grandpa's for Sunday night dinner and ate lots of applesauce, potatoes and whipped cream.
